“Korenskie rodniki” Settlement, Gremyachij khutor

In a picturesque place in Shebekinskiy district, near the Gremyachij khutor were purchased 40 hectares of arable fields for the settlement. Until then, land was leased to a local farmer for 5 years.

Surroundings

Our settlement is located in one of the best (from the ecological point of view) places, away from the iron quarries (Kursk magnetic anomaly), away from chemical plants and near the largest forest in the Belgorod region. In a very picturesque (as one geographer from the Belgorod State University has said "the most picturesque in the region") place. The field is adjacent to the Gremyachij khutor (old name – Korenskaya dacha, unofficial name – Olshanec). There is a large part of the khutor and the village of Polyana nearby. The Museum of Craft is located a few kilometers from the settlement across the river, in the village of Kupino.

Water

There are 2 spring at the border of the field. They form two small lakes. River Koren’ flows near the settlement. There are wells here.

Roads

Remoteness from oblast (regional) centre: 28 km on asphalt, 18 km partially on primer. Remoteness from Belgorod-Shebekino highway – 8 km.

Electricity

The field adjacent to the khutor. There is a step-down transformer. Will be enough power to connect 30 new homes? It is not yet known.

In 2005 we conducted a geodetic survey and shared the field at individual plots. We made the settlement plan independently, in concordance with a building code and after agreeing with the district architect. The field divided into 24 plots of 1 or 2 hectares. On June 2006 we celebrated the first birthday of the settlement. In 2007 we received verbally agreed for the construction from the regional and district administrations.

Now we decide the issue of joining of our land to the neighboring Gremyachij khutor.

Since 2006 planted more than 10 thousand woody plants, laid the foundations or erected houses on the 12 plots, cleansed "Korenskoy" spring.

Nature-conservative measures are being implemented:

Held control over illegal logging, poaching in adjacent forests (identified and stopped 5 logging and 2 cases of poaching);

There are warning signs at the entrance to the woods;

The settlers extinguish spring fires on the fields and in the forests;

Conducted a survey of the surrounding forests with the aim of identifying and protecting of rare plant species (20 species detected);

Preparatory work for creation of specially protected natural areas (Natural Park of regional scale) as a territory with great diversity of species (about 500 species), including rare and valuable.
